Membership Information
The NEORRA was originally intended to provide working ranch buckaroos and cowboys a chance to practice the skills they use at work and improve their roping, horsemanship, and cattle handling. This has grown to include horsemen and women of different backgrounds and occupations. We welcome anyone who wants to be part of what we are doing, but the association will not change to fit the times or the local or regional styles or roping, horsemanship, or working cattle. We encourage people to share their methods and ideas during practice sessions or while visiting during an event, but competitions are to be conducted according to the rules and description of events that have been established. Changes or amendments to the rules are made by the Board of Directors. Suggestions for changes can be made to any member of the Board, and will be discussed at the next scheduled meeting of the Board. In order to maintain the objectives and goals of the NEORRA, membership and participation in the association’s events will be subject to an approval process. We recognize that many horsemen in the area are new to this style of roping, horsemanship, and cattle handling. We hope to provide an opportunity for these people to learn and gain experience. It is not our desire to discourage or deny membership to anyone who shows dedication to achieving the goals with the Association.
Anyone may attend up to three events before applying for membership. After which they must complete an Application Form and submit to any member of the Board of Directors, then the board of Directors will review the application and vote on each individual application. Two negative votes will result in rejection of the application.
In the event an application is rejected, the applicant may continue to participate in the morning practice sessions. They may re-apply whenever they wish. Three rejected applications will result in suspension of participation for one calendar year from the date of the last application.
An application must include a sponsoring member’s signature. A member who serves as Sponsor of three rejected applications will have their own membership reviewed by the Board of Directors.
A Membership Committee will be formed to assist the Board of Directors when the membership rolls have grown sufficiently to warrant one.
